Sin City

“Do you think someone should call me a doctor or something?” (“Sin City” – 2005)

There’s plenty of things happening in the place known as “Sin City”.  This 2005 hit movie had an all-star cast with the likes of Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Benicio Del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson and Michael Clarke Duncan.  While you’re watching “Sin City”, here are a few things to look out for!

How Did He Do That?

When Lucille (Carla Gugino) tosses a bottle of pills to Marv (Rourke), he catches it in his left hand.  But in the next immediate shot (close-up), Marv is holding the bottle in his right hand with his cigarette.

Let’s Cut To Something Else

Marv regains consciousness and finds that he’s being held prisoner along with Lucille by Kevin (Elijah Wood).  Watch the three distinct cuts on Marv’s face during the scene.  When they’re being held in the room and when Marv breaks the bars out of the wall, the cuts run from side to side (left to right).  When Marv says “Let’s Go!”, the cuts run up and down.

Maybe They Just Weren’t Good For Dancing!

When Hartigan (Willis) walks into the bar after getting out of prison, we can see Nancy (Alba) isn’t wearing gloves when she dances.  Later in the scene, however, when she’s finishing up her dance number, she has them on.

Somebody Shut The Door!

After Hartigan and Nancy leave the bar, they are being chased by the now yellow/deformed Junior (Nick Stahl) in the car.  Hartigan has the door open, shooting at Junior in the car behind him.  After Junior’s car crashes and flips over, we see the overhead shot of Nancy’s car.  The passenger door is closed.  But in the next close-up shot, Hartigan is climbing back in his seat and shuts the door.

That’s An Earful

Gail (Dawson) has been captured and tied up by Manute (Duncan).  Watch Gail’s left earring during the scene.  The rope circles Gail’s neck and catches the earring close to her neck.  (This is especially noticeable when she says “Becky”.)  In the following shots, when she tells Becky (Alexis Bledel) that they could have protected her mom, the earring is now dangling from her ear freely and away from the rope.
