Spider-Man

“We are who we choose to be.  Now choose!” – Green Goblin (“Spider-Man” –  2002)

“Spider-Man” was 2002’s hit movie of the year.  The film introduced us to Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), an average everyday guy who is bitten by a radioactive spider.  Peter then goes through a metamorphosis when unexplained things, such as the ability to shoot webs and climb up and down walls occur.  However, it’s not until the death of his uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson) that Peter decides to use his new found powers to fight crime.  But, with the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) wreaking havoc on the city, will Spider-Man be able to protect the ones he loves?  While you’re watching this thrilling/adventurous movie, try to catch these movie goofs in your web!

Did He Have Time To Change His Shoes?

After the incident at school, Peter is in an alleyway when he realizes he has the ability to climb walls.  Keep a close eye on Peter’s shoes during the scene.  When he is climbing up the wall, you’ll see that he has a dark, almost grey, pair of shoes on.  But, at the top of the building, when he is standing near the edge of the roof, he now has a very light pair of shoes on and you can see they even have an emblem (Nike) on them now!

Switch On, Switch Off

Peter is shooting webs in his room.  He makes two attempts to hit the soda can that is in front of the giant light bulb lamp.  If you look closely, you’ll see that the lamp is turned off.  But, when he finally hits the can, the lamp is now turned on.

It’s All In The Hands

After seeing the ad for the wrestling event, Peter is drawing different versions of his costume.  Peter is drawing with his right hand through most of the seen.  But, in the shot before we see a full page of the Spider-Man costume, he is actually drawing with his left hand.

Table Manners

Everyone is sitting at the table for Thanksgiving dinner.  After Peter says he was injured by a bike messenger, the front shot of MJ (Kirsten Dunst) and Harry (James Franco) shows MJ’s arms crossed in front of her.  In the next wide shot, her arms are by her side.  This is followed by another front close up shot that shows MJ’s arms crossed again.

It’s All In The Hands

You can see this happen in two scenes during the movie!  When everyone is at the graduation ceremony, Norman (Willem Dafoe) is talking to Peter.  Watch his hand during the scene.  At first his hand is on Peter’s shoulder but you’ll see him move it after Harry walks away.  In the next back shot you’ll see Norman’s hand is still on Peter’s shoulder.  But, in the following front shot, his hand is moved again.

Also watch MJ’s hands at the very end when she is talking to Peter in the cemetery.  Her hands are on his face through most of the scene.  But you’ll see for a split second when Peter is saying “That’s all I have to give”, her hands are away from his face.  But, in the next shot, they’re back up!

What’s With The Gun?

Watch closely when the thief slowly enters the warehouse.  At first, you’ll see that he has the gun in his left hand and his “loot” under his right arm.  But, when he fires and reloads, the gun is in his right hand.  Later, when he is fighting Peter, he drops his gun and grabs his knife.  But the gun is back in his hand when Peter pushes him against the wall.
