Star Wars : Episode II - Attack of the Clones
”Why do I get the feeling you're going to be the death of me?” – Obi-Wan (“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” – 2002)
“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” is set several years after “Episode I – The Phantom Menace”. The movie is the setting for the beginning of the Clone wars, the romance between Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Padme (Natalie Portman) and Palpatine’s (Ian McDiarmid) continuing rise to power. While we have to wait and see what the force has in store, here are a few movie blunders to look out for.
Things Are Looking Hairy
In a few scenes, keep a close eye on the person’s hair! At the beginning when the senator’s ship explodes, watch as Padme is leaning over Corde (Veronica Segura). In the first shot, Padme’s hair is over both sides of her shoulder. But, in the next shot, her hair is only over her left shoulder.
Anakin’s Padawan braid changes sides as well! When Zam Wessell (Leeanna Walsman) pulls her gun in the bar and is getting ready to shoot Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor), a quick shot of Anakin from behind shows his braid is on the left. This happens again when Anakin and Dooku (Christopher Lee) are battling in the shadows on Geonosis.
Lightsabers Galore
When Obi-Wan is attacked by Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison) on the landing platform on Kamino, he drops his lightsaber. Watch carefully and you’ll see the lightsaber falls close to the edge of the platform. However, when Obi-Wan uses the Force to get the lightsaber, you’ll see that it’s actually away from the edge, out in the open.
Flailing Arms
Before trouble breaks loose for Anakin and Padme on Geonosis, there is a shot of the pair walking along a darkened corridor. When Anakin says “Wait” and the two stop, the side shot shows that Anakin’s arms are by his side. In the very next frontal shot, his left arm is across his body in a warning gesture to Padme.
And Another Thing About Lightsabers…
You’ll have to keep a close eye on the colors of the lightsabers Obi-Wan and Anakin use when battling Dooku! An injured Obi-Wan throws his lightsaber to Anakin who catches it in his left hand. But, in the next shot, when the battle between Dooku and Anakin begins, Obi-Wan’s lightsaber is now in his right hand.
Does He Really Need the Cane Anyway?
The showdown is about to begin! Yoda (voice of Frank Oz) confronts Dooku in the cave on Geonosis. Suddenly, Dooku sends a canister/fixture that had been attached to the wall, flying towards Yoda. Yoda drops his cane (on his right) and deflects the oncoming attack. In the next wide shots of the Yoda and Dooku, the cane is nowhere to be seen on the floor. We actually don’t see the cane again until Yoda conjures it after Dooku has escaped.See Also: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars and Countdown to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
