Walk The Line
“Y’all can’t walk no line!” – June Carter (“Walk the Line” – 2005)
Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) is not only determined to have a music career but wants to win the love of June Carter (Reese Witherspoon). But will destructive forces destroy everything that he’s worked for? While you’re watching the biopic “Walk the Line”, here are a few things to look for.
Get A Handle On That!
When John and Vivian (Ginnifer Goodwin) are living in
Playing Tunes!
Johnny, Luther Perkins (Dan John Miller) and Marshall Grant (Larry Bagby) are auditioning for Sam Phillips (Dallas Roberts). Watch Johnny’s guitar strap on his left shoulder during the scene! When they’re first singing, the strap is over Johnny’s collar. When Sam starts lecturing him, the guitar strap is suddenly under his collar. It’s back over his collar when he’s singing “Folsom Prison Blues”.
Boogie Woogie!
When we first see Jerry Lee Lewis (Waylon Payne) on stage, he is singing “Lewis Boogie”. We can see a white scarf hanging down over his jacket. The scene then cuts to Johnny when he first sees June and then back to Jerry Lee. His white scarf has suddenly disappeared.
Gone Fishin’
When Johnny and June go fishing, in the first overhead shot of them standing at the lake, we see June cast the line into the water. It then cuts to a right side shot of her, and she casts the line again.
Have A Seat!
When the guys are drinking at the concert hall, June walks in. After Johnny makes a comment to her as she’s walking away, June comes back and starts throwing beer bottles at them. Watch closely! In the far shot (when one of the guys is yelling “we surrender”), Johnny is peeking out from behind the table and there isn’t anything in front of it. But in the next close-up shot of Johnny, there’s now a chair on its back, wedged against the table.
“Walk the Line” is a Movie Pick of the Week!
